Our first layout!
The late Ted Hogbin supervises a couple of potential new recruits to the hobby on the clubs Drive - a - train layout. Photo taken at one of the three exhibitions we held at Portslade Town Hall.
The Grandson of Magnus Volk admires one of the cars from our model of Volks Electric Railway. The layout has been donated to the Brighton Museum and is currently stored.
Two shots of Volks Electric Railway in operation, the left hand view is of the Peter Pans playground station and Paston Place carriage shed and depot. the track still runs . The right hand view is of a train about to leave the Aquarium / Palace Pier station.
Club members Bob and Jonathan Beattie operating what looks like an early version of Highcombe at The Brighton Centre Modelworld back in 1994. How things have changed, Bob has just taken early retirement and Jonathan is now at grown up with is own family.

Now this is a very rare photo the Stick and String layout. Based on a Welsh slate mine this layout had working rope incline and all sorts of strange working features. The photo was again taken at the Brighton Centre Modelworld year was198?
Look they point....is it a bird? ....... is it a plane? No ..... its the Hastings Cliff Railway at the 150th Anniversary event of Cannon Street. I believe this was 23 August 1986. Its a shame we don't have a proper photo of the railway built by the late Hugh Smale.
